LITOMETAMORFOSI

Litometamorfosi is a collection of poems dedicated to those who suffer injustice, violence and marginalisation, and is part of the project of the same name.

The stones, when they do not belong to a privileged category such as gemstones, are ignored, stepped on with indifference and unawareness. They lie on the ground, wet from the rain, warmed by the sun, kicked by passersby, subjected over millennia to the movements of the earth that determine their position.

If you think about it, every stone, even the most insignificant one, is worthy of attention. It has its own identity, a history spanning millions of years that reflects the geological story of the place where it is found.
The minerals that compose it determine its appearance and texture.

Using acrylic paints, I have experimented with the most varied and unpredictable results on this material, which appears static and immutable yet is very versatile.
Rough and irregular stones turned out to be perfect for achieving layered and shaded colors, while the smoother and more uniform ones are ideal for precise marks and evenly distributed colors.
For me, painting them is an act of beautification, a form of redemption.
Stones are a metaphor for a forgotten and abandoned humanity for which I dream of a rebirth, a new and unprecedented form of recognition.

The Litometamorphosis project, in addition to the book, also includes the painted stones and the photographs that portray them.

ALI . POESIA . MUSICA . IMMAGINI

 Fronte 2 scritta

“Ali” is the result of the project "Ali . poetry . music . images", which involved the poet Luisa Gavazza, the musician Max Santiglia, and the students of the Cinema Workshop of the Cesare Pavese Comprehensive Institute in S. Stefano Belbo (CN).

Under the guidance of their literature teachers, the students analyzed the poetic texts of Luisa Gavazza, writing paraphrases, commentaries, and “model poems.” The themes chosen for the poems were: nature, absence, and freedom.

Performances were also created in which music and poetry intertwined, generating new artistic suggestions. Each song by Max Santiglia was paired with poems sharing the same theme.
The musical component was entrusted to the group Scorie:
Max Santiglia, vocals and guitar – Salvatore Parisi, saxophone – Ferdinando Vietti, cello.
Emiliano Melis handled composition and arrangements.

The director Andrea Icardi filmed each performance to produce the DVD included with the book.

The book “Ali” (which contains poems and poetic prose by Luisa Gavazza, along with the students’ commentaries, paraphrases, and model texts) and the accompanying DVD are the tangible result of the “Ali” Project, made possible thanks to sponsors and friends who collaborated: the musicians, the supporters of the crowdfunding campaign on Kapipal, and the photographers Lorenzo Mascherpa, Elisabetta Molinario, and Sergio Barberis, who provided the photographic material for the book.
The photographs also follow the book’s thematic lines: nature, absence, and freedom.

The printed book, with its attached DVD, was published in 2012.

The cover design is by photographer Franco Borelli.

In 2014, an e-book version was also produced.

PENSIERI IN ASCOLTO

COPERTINA PENSIERI IN ASCOLTO LUISA GAVAZZA 400

"Pensieri in ascolto" was self-published in 2010.

The poems contained in it clearly outline the themes dear to Luisa Gavazza and trace a sort of journey through reflections dedicated to life in its most diverse aspects.

The book is accompanied by drawings by Luisa Gavazza.
The cover design was created by the graphic designer Aldo Lionetti.

RALLENTA IL PASSO

"Rallenta il passo" was published in 2009 thanks to the publishing house “Parole Sparse.”

It is a collection of many poetic texts written by Luisa Gavazza starting from 2007, the year in which, thanks to MySpace and the encouragement of virtual friends met there, the author found the inspiration and courage to experiment with a form of writing never attempted before so decisively.

These are the first attempts at openness, intimacy, and the initial traces of a path that will continue in future works.

The book is accompanied by drawings by Luisa Gavazza.

Luisa Gavazza is a pharmacist and has worked for many years in a pharmacy.

Beyond the human and professional experience this work allowed her to gain, she also lived through funny and, at times, embarrassing moments, which she always noted in a notebook: the quirky phrases, the mispronounced words, and the mistaken beliefs often turned customers into real comedians.

She never wanted to publish a book for utilitarian purposes, as it would not have seemed fair toward those people who, out of ignorance or distraction, had uttered such hilarious phrases.

In 2008, however, she decided to do so because this initiative would allow her to help an association that supports people with health issues: the entire proceeds from sales were donated to APISTOM (Piedmontese Association of Incontinent and Ostomized Patients).

She has now made the book’s content publicly available: just click on the cover image next to it.
